Charging NiCad Batteries
Efficient use and extending battery life.

When out working with your cordless tool on a warm or hot day, there are a few important points to remember when it comes to charging that flat battery.

By trying to charge the battery straight away you will find, depending on how hot the battery is, the light on the charger will go out in considerably less time than the approximate time it takes to fully charge the battery normally. The battery charger senses the battery heat during the correct charge temperature cycle and uses this to judge when the battery is fully charged (the charger is set to cut out once the battery reaches a certain temperature).

If the battery is hot to begin with, perhaps by being in direct sunlight or outdoors, this will cause the charging time to be reduced and even though the charger is telling you that the battery is fully charged, such is not the case!

Before charging a battery that has just been in constant use, or in direct sunlight, let it cool down for about half-an-hour in a sheltered place, or better still, have a spare battery on hand so you can keep on working!
